Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I was suspected of having ovarian cancer by my gp who referred me for an ultrasound. My symptoms were dysmenorrhoea ( with no excessive bleeding) and an enlarged stomach which is very hard around the pelvic area. The ultrasound showed I hadput multiple fibroids. The consultant said the size of all together was 14 cm and was equivalent to a 30 week foetus. On paper however, she noted much smaller fibroids with sizes of 15 x 12 x 10mm and second one being 27 by 20 by 10 mm. She also wrote that the myometrium was heterogenous in echotexture with multiple small cystics within junction of myometrium and endometrium, suggestive of adenomyosis. She however did not mention this to me during the ultrasound but commented more on how large and numerous my fibroids were. Does this msan I may have two issues ( fibroids and cystic adenomyosis)? what would be the likely treatment of this? I also have excessive facial hair and scalp baldness. Would this be related? I am 42 and have hadhad very painful periods with vomiting for the last 8 to 10 yrs. I originally had this as a teenager without vomiting but this went away and then returned. Many thanks for your help.
