What Does Painful Red Lines Behind Knees Indicate?

I have developed identical dark red lines behind my knees and they burn almost like a sunburn. I sit a lot at my job and recently started working out. At first I thought it was an irritation from my workout pants, but it's been 5 days and they still haven't gone away. What do you think it could be?
