What Does Pulling Feeling In The Place Of Fixed Plate In Shoulder Suggest?

I broke my collar bone about 10 years ago, had a plate put on it because it didnt heal naturally. Recently sometimes when I am lifting traps i feel somewhat of a pull/tearing feeling in the back of my should in my trap area. After that happens y next gets stiff and my trap hurts or a few days. Could that have anything to do with the plate? I was told someday I may have to get it removed due t bone spurs.
