What Does Recurring Vaginal Bleeding At The Age Of 80 Suggest?

My best friend, 79 years, has a health issue. She was in North Carolina visiting their son just after Christmas. She has bleeding from the vagina, went to an ER, they ran a lab and he thought she might have a tear from straining to have a bowel movement. She & her husband drove on to Florida to visit her sister & she again had bleeding again. The went to another ER and they ran test again. She came back home on Saturday night to go to a scheduled appointment with a gynecologist yesterday. The physician is referring my friend to a surgeon. What kind of a surgical repair be for this problem. The gynecologist was to call to set up an appointment with my friend. Unfortunately, she could have to wait a couple of days for the appointment. She was so excited when the gynecologist called her back a few min. ago she has no ideal of the name of the doctor she is referring her to. She would call his office to set up an appointment.
