What Does Red Spots On Calves And Thighs Imply?

i tend to sometimes get red spotted bruise like spots on my calves or thighs ever now and again? Is this an allergic reaction to something? sometimes it itches and sometime it doesn't. the red bruise like spots just appear and no i have not encountered any injury to cause it.
