What Does Swelling On Top Of Adam's Apple Indicate?

there are two swollen parts on the top of my adams apple, and when i open my mouth i can see parts that are red. the doctor gave me antibiotics and told me to take them for a week, i just wanted to know weather it is anything serious or not and i cant actually recall what he said the treatment was for, i think it was either lyrungitis or virungytis one of the two.....I might also get a blood test done....please tell me its nothing serious
