My mother is 61 years old.
In September 2011, she was diagnosed with "acute-on-chronic subdural haemorrhage in left side with mass effect".
(She has hypertension and is on medication for hypertension since the last 25+ years)
Procedure performed on her was "left fronto-temporo-parietal craniotomy, evacuation of subdural haematoma and duraplasty under general anaesthesia", in Sepetember 2011.
She followed the instructions of the concerned doctor as prescribed to her after the surgery.
Presently, she is having fluid discharge from 2 points from within the area of the surgery.
This fluid discharge started in 1 point, after 6 months of surgery, and is still continuing.
The amount of fluid which was being discharged till 3 months back, was minute (~1 to 2 drops), and didnt have any smell.
Since the last 3 months, the fluid discharge has increased (~2 to 3 drops).
Importantly, since the last 3 months, the fluid is also having mild _foul smell_.
The 2nd point of fluid discharge appeared since only the last 7 days. In this point, the discharge is irregular, extremely minute and doesnt have any smell.
She does not have any pain, fever or any other symptoms, till now.
Except, she had mild fever for 3 days, 1&1/2 months back.
We are anxious to know whether this is a case of EMERGENCY?!
If it is a case of emergency, what is the preferred treatment?
What may be the approximate cost of the total process and its major components?
How long the process may take esp. if hospitalisation is required?
If this is _not a case of emergency, then what is the preferred form of treatment?
We have attached the discharge summary (September 2011) and recent CT scan of brain (November 2014).
Our family is very anxiously awaiting your reply.
Thank you very much for your kind attention and cooperation.
