What Does The MRI Report Indicate?

MRI report states an interval development (previous was 8/14) of a tear at the posterior root attachment of the medial meniscus with partial extrusion of the body segment evident as as development of a superimposed insufficiency fracture involving the periphery of the medial plateau. Please explain in laymens language these findings and whether surgery is the only option. Thank you.
