What Does The Withdrawn Ear Drum Mean?

I went to the doctor yesterday to get my ear and throat checked. I was told that i have a virus, and will have to fight it off myself.
I was also told that my eardrum was withdrawn and that it's an air pressure issue.
What exactly did he mean by that?
