What Does This Blood Test Finding Indicate?

I recently had a intestinal bleed from diverticulitis. this happened on a saturday early evening. On monday I did not feel well so went to the doctor. I had a blood test done. My haemoglobin count was down from usual 150-160 to 110 and there was avery high protocell count. My Dr said that this indicated a heavy bleed. What does this mean in terms of actual blood loss?
