What Does This Cholesterol And Triglyceride Levels Indicate?

I am almost 75. I have been on Lovastatin for years. I have good blood pressure and am otherwise healthy. I stopped taking Lovastatin 6 weeks ago. Now my cholesterol reading is 251, triglyceride=277; HDL = 39; LDL = 157. BUT do I really need to take this foreign chemical into my body??
