What Does White Mark On Tonsils Imply?

hello i have been sick for about two weeks or so and my throat has been hurting and it hurts when i swallow. so just now i looked in the mirror with my mouth open and on my left tonsil there is a whitish mark on it. can you help i don't know what it is?
