What Does White Papillae On Tongue Imply?

I have one white papillae longer than the others on my tongue. My tongues feels like I burned it. This particular one hurts. I had this about a month and a half ago ago and pulled it out with my tweezers. I am prone to herpes simplex 1 and have an outbreak on my lower lip, now. Should I visit my doctor or wait a few days to see if it disappears.
