What Does Womb Lesions Mean?

my mother went in for a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic,but they were unable to do the procedure,as they said she had lesions,and they would discuss this with her,in a few days,but she would probably need an operation.what do womb lesions mean?what is the choice of diagnosis?do they possibly mean cervical lesions?I am a registered nurse,but know little about gynae problems?
