What Does Yellow And Loose Toenail Indicate?

Hi there. My big toe nail is only attached at the base of my nail. It grows ok but it is completely loose. It has been like this for years. I did have it cut right back once and it grew again but still never attached. It is a yellow colour but the podiatrist said it wasn't fungal. I would think that a lot of debris is caught underneath it over the years.
