What Is Molluscum?

My 7 year old daughter has red spots on her bum. Some of them look quite angry and one spot in particular is sore and hanging. Doctor tells me it is Molluscum, but I'm not convinced. I have been putting Aqueaus cream to stop her keep scratching it. She scratches other areas of her body like the legs, arms, tops of legs which causes a rash
