What Is Stevens Johnson Syndrome?

Hi! For the second time in the last 6 weeks, I have developed some type of raised, red/purple lg. areas all over my body. Some of those rash spots feel feverish and have blisters or are blistering. The first occurence happened upon being discharged from the hospital for the treatment of Interstitial cystitis flare and UTI. I was started on Bactrim DS 800 mg twice per day and given diflucan. I have taken both of these medications many times over the years, while having a chronic bladder illness and having to use a catheter for bladder instillations. I also have a history of cold sores, for which I have taken acyclovir 400 mg twice a day for years to prevent outbreaks. These blister are extremely painful and itch as well. It was thought that I had gotten shingles from hospital when I was there the first time these blisters occurred. This time they have returned as bad or worse in the exact same locations but more of them and much more painful. Could I be having an allergic reaction to the Bactrim or Diflucan, even though I have taken them so many times over the years? They just increased my acyclovir to 800 mg 5 times per day the first time I had the blisters and it still took forever for them to finally start going away. I was told by a neighbor medical professional that it might be from the antibiotics and be something called stevens-johnson syndrome. I am in a tremendous amount of pain and do have cold sores that have come up as well. I am also having an IC flare. What is your opinion? Thank you! Kathy
