What Is A Mucous Cyst?

What is a mucous cyst? I had a cyst removed from my index finger 5 1/2 weeks ago. In the operating room the doctor called it a mucous cyst. At the follow-up visit 10 days later he said I had a ganglion cyst. I still have a lump on my finger and there is still a small hole where the incision was that hasn t closed. I think it s pretty unsightly, but the doc said don t put a band-aid on it. Do you think I will always have a limp there?
