What Is Scleroderma?

my partner has scleroderma and stays in bed most of the time. he has a 5p coin hole on his elbox. it had pus but has since drained and dried up from salt water application. my worry is the hole. will it heal over as it is a moveable part and should i keep it covered or open, wet or dry.
