What Is The Bald Spot In My Pubic Area?

I have had a patch of hair in my pubic area that is bald. It has been progressing slowly the last few years, now a few inches in diameter. Otherwise, looks fully normal. I wasn't concerned until I went to a salon for lazer hair removal in the bikini area and she said she had never seen that before.
