What Is The Black Rash On My Hip That Is Spreading?

A red circle appeared on my back (hip area). It looked like someone had drawn a red circle there and it was quite painful. Over the past week, this red circle filled in with a very dark bruise (almost black) and now the bruise is radiating out across my back (again hip area towards the spine) and is also spreading down in a line under where the circle was.
