What Is The Cause And Treatment For Bursitis?

I fell w/ a heavy box in my hand & put a lot of pressure on my right leg by falling awkwardly. Saw my doctor who tells me i have burcitis ? am I spelling that right? the pain is now worse probably cause of activity & inactivity to region, how do I find a happy medium? It is located below my hip towards the back of my leg & radiates down to my knee. Now have discomfort when I sit/drive. ideas?
