What Is The Cause And Treatment For Epileptic Attacks?

My brother is now 38 years. He had fits when he was 6 months old. From then onwards he is taking medicines for fits. Only during night he is having fits . he is taking medicines on correct time ,still he is having fits at night once in 2 weeks. He is having mood swings and taking psychiatric medicines too. Now we went for a check up in Amrita hospital ..they stopped all medicines and doing eeg and MRI scan. He is getting frequent fits during day time too. Now he is not responding and looking at same location. Kindly guide us. He is still in hospital ..came for 3 days check up and now situation is more worst.
