What Is The Cause And Treatment For Sore Throat?

I had a sore throat in December for 6-8 days on only one side of my mouth. Since then it has been red but there is no pain. I had a strepp test two weeks ago and that was negative. Only reason I know it s there is that I can feel it with my tongue. Any idea what it is?
