What Is The Cause And Treatment For Type 2 Diabetes?

Hi. I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (December 2014) and have been taking 1000 mg of metformin. I have been checking my sugars regularly, they are usually between 4 and 6.5 in the morning. I am getting concerned however, because no matter what I do I can t seem to control or predict my BSL. I was recently hosptalised for hyperglycemia with ketones, and have been having daily hypoglycemic episodes where my BSL falls between 2.5 and 2.9. I have started to get nocturnal hypoglycemia, where I am woken up during the night, check my sugars and find that they are around 2.5. I just dont understand why I keep getting low all the time. Or why I have ketones. I have reduced my carb intake but i haven t stopped eating carbs completely, and have mainly low glycemic index foods with plenty of vegetables etc. I d appreciate any insight you might have.
