What Is The Cause Of Bleeding From Nipples After Breastfeeding?

Hi, i have a 16 month old baby who i havnt been breast feeding for 14 months but recently my nipple has been bleeding (only small ammounts i only ever notice dried blood) and shortly before that it went very dry and cracked and peeled, im not allergic to anything so it cant be that. is this normal?
