What Is The Cause Of Severe Headaches And Weakness?

Every time I try to fall asleep, just as I drift off I get a very bright flash of white light behind my eyes. It scares me to full wakefulness, and now my left eye is tender to the touch and I have a severe headache behind my eyes that is so bad it is making me upset in the stomach.
