What Is The Cause Of Swelling And Soreness Of Toe Nail?

This is day 2 of having pain on big toe located near bottom right corner next to toe nail. It is red swollen and sore. What could the cause be? Are there any home remedies? I did soak my foot last night with warm water and epsom salt.
