What Is The Difference Between Methadone And Fentanyl Patches?

I just have 1 question - but I doubt you ll be able to answer it with any kind of certainty. I m guessing I m gonna have to pay for an answer. But that would just be wasting money unless this would be your specialty. Can I just ask my question and have u tell me if u can answer it correctly before I would have to pay or register for this service? Thank You You wanted me to edit my question - O.K. I was in a very bad car accident several years ago - I was a front seat passenger in a car that hit a tree going about 60M.P.H. I had both of my femurs shattered & my right knee pretty well ruined. I had a custom metal plate with 26 screws in my right femur & knee area (they also took some of my hip bone to use in the operation, also....they took out all the metal a couple of years later......which was too soon because when I was bending over shortly after the metal & screws were removed....& all the screw holes collapsed on each other, which made the rehab even longer.). It took me a year to be able to walk again.....but I did heal up better than was expected. But now that I m older I have REALLY bad chronic pain. O.K. - my question. I ve been on all most every kind of narcotic & other pain medications. Same thing always happens. My body grows a tolerance that eventually becomes huge to these meds so that taking 20 a day isn t as beneficial as one was at the start of this. I m talking about about 15 years now. I ve had percocet, dillauid, oxycontin, & methadone. I have a huge tolerance to any of this stuff know. For example - a few years ago I was taking 200 mg. of methadone daily. I needed dentures & the dentist told me that he could pull them all in one visit....some of them were basically just roots where the tooth just barely raised high enough to get ahold of them. I told him what pain meds I was on before the surgery, but I still woke up twice in a lotta pain & he had to use more of whatever he was using to keep me out. After that, we decided to try something. He gave me a prescription ofr 30 of the 80mg. time released Oxycontin & I was going to try that instead of taking methadone. I got the prescription filled and took 10 of them (I had never had these before, but I had been told they were stronger than percocet). I waited 6 hours & felt nothing, so I took 10 more, again nothing. I waited another 12 hours & took the last 10. Never felt them at all. Anway - my doctor & I were discussing whether I should maybe try fentanyl patches or lozenges. I ve heard this is really strong. Do you know a good estimate of what the comparison would be if I quit taking 200 mg. of methadone daily & switched to fentanyl. My doctor was thinking about this, but he isn t a specialist in pain medications & at this point, after discussing it a bit, when I see him next, I m pretty sure he isn t going to switch me because he doesn t really know how to compare the two & he s a responsible guy who I like personally. I think he s just worried because u hear so many people have O.D ed because they didn t have a huge tolerance to pain medication & they take vaium or a similar drug with the pain meds which I would never do. I know that combo could have one stop breathing in their sleep. I bet when u asked for an edit....u didn t expect War & Peace. I guess my Bottom Line question is: what is the comparison between the 2? If I ve been taking 200 mgs. daily of methadone for years.....what would be the equivilent in fentanyl? FINALLY - THE END THANK U IF U READ THIS FAR. YEA - I JUST WASTED MY TIME - I M SURE YOU CAN T ANSWER THAT KIND OF QUESTION ONLINE. PROBABLY WASTED SOMEONE ELSES TIME TOO......SORRY.
