What Is The Dosage Of Propranolol For Anxiety?

I have been described propranolol 40mg today for anxiety. Doc said to take 1. And see how it goes. Can t say I notice great difference but doc did say I could take more each day. How much more can I take safely. I have 40mg tablets and took 1st at around 11am. Now it s 19:30. Have been prescribed 84 x40mg tablets and have follow up appointment in 2 weeks.
