What Is The Normal Range Of Blood Sugar Level?

I recently went in for a physical and had some blood work done. I was not told that I needed to fast before my blood sugar test. I had eaten one to two hours before the test. My blood sugar came back at 145. Now the doctor wants me to come back for a A1C test. Is my blood sugar level really that high?
