What Is The Pain When Getting An Erection After An Inguinal Hernia Operation?

I had a inguinal hernia operation on my right side groin two weeks ago! I have had open surgery rather than key hole which has left a scar of about 2.5 inches down towards the base of my penis. I am finding it painful when getting an erection as there appears to what I can only describe as a small vein that gets extremely tight when I get an erection to the right hand side of the main vein running through the penis. I am also struggling with a numb feeling around the scar which seems to have a lot of scar tissue under it and on the base of the penis. Can you please confirm if this is normal and if it will go away in time?
