What Is The Prognosis For An Elderly Woman With Scleroderma?

What is the longterm prognosis for a 50 year old healthy woman being diagnosed with scleraderma? It seems to have affected her lungs. She gets pneumonia about every 2 or 3 years. Will this shorten her lifespan? She has never been a smoker and is very active physically. It has also effected her skin all over as well as her joints occasionally. She experiences fatigue occasionally. And cannot compete as well in long bike rides of about a week long. She is very competitive and doesn t want to give up on these activities she loves. What should she be doing for and about this sclera derma. She is seeing a specialist in Denver. I am her mother in law and worry about her, so just wanted an impartial opinion about this disease.
