What Is The Red Line Around The Spot Where I Was Kicked?

I was kicked in the leg and developed a bruise with swelling, now the inner part of the bruise has lighten in color more to a yellowish for black and blue, but the outter part of the bruise now has a red line around it. In the middle part of the bruise there is still the hard welp? Is this a serious problem?
