What Is The Small Dot On My Kidney Revealed In Ultrasound?

I had a ultrasound on my kidneys and they found what looked like a 2cm kidney stone, however after having a pain x-ray nothing was present! I am now waiting for a CT scan to find out what the 2cm shadow was! What else apart from kidney stones could the shadow be?
