What Is The Treatment For A Bruise In The Armpit?

I have an unexplained bruise that started under my left armpit and over 3 days has travelled down to my thumb. The area starts off as painful (like a severe sunburn to touch) and then turns purple/black. I have not had an injury of any sort, it has happend out of the blue.
