What Is The Treatment For Breathlessness And Lethargy After An Episode Of Cold?
I started a cold on Boxing Day which developed into a virus. I coughed a lot, was shivery and had a runny nose. I was given antibiotics, cough medicine and a nasal spray which didn't do much. I then became slightly breathless when exerting myself and lethargic and was given a second course of antibiotics and histamine tablets. My nose has dried up but I am still breathless and lethargic and I only have two days left of antibiotics. What do you suggest I do now please?
Hello and welcome to health care magic. Your symptoms are suggestive of an evolving pneumonia secondary to the upper respiratory tract infection you had. The breathlessness and lethargy are signs of Pneumonia. My advice is to visit a Chest specialist /Pulmonologist and let him have a look at your symptoms. The doctor will take a chest xray to confirm the diagnosis. Since you have already taken 2 course of antibiotics, you may be admitted and will be given stronger antibiotics as injection. Hope this discussion will be helpful to you. Thank you.
