What Is The Treatment For Bruise In The Rib Cage?

I bruised my ribs three weeks ago from partnering for my dance company. I have during that time noticed a small bump, round in shape and about the size of my pinky nail, grow right near where the bruising occurred. My boyfriend saw it and thought it might be a pimple so he squeezed it and it has grown tremendously and hurts to lie on it and to even brush over it with my hand. Does it have anything to do with the bruising?
