What Is The Treatment For Cystic Acne And Welts?

I have cystic acne welts on my shoulders. I am on minocycline and some kind of topical treatment, but they are very slow in going away. any tips? should i schedule an appointment with my doctor? it has been about 4 months since i started taking the oral medication.
