What Is The Treatment For Itchiness And Bruise In The Legs?

Yesterday my thigh started to itch, after rubbing it purple spotting and bruising underneath skin started to raise. After a day the bruise is still noticeably underneath the skin and instead of the normal bruised feeling a sharp sting shoots through it. The purple spotting has also gone darker in colour. It is no longer itchy, that did not last long but I am still worried that it might be something more then ruptured vessels. What do you think it is and should I get this checked out?
