What Is The Treatment For Purple Mark On The Forearm?

what would be the cause of a flat (not raised) purplish mark on the forearm - approx 5mm x 6mm. When you push the skin together, it almost dissappears. It does not have a nodule under the skin - almost looks like a tiny bruise - but it has not changed in weeks - my son does a lot of weight lifting.
