What Is The Treatment For Rashes On The Skin?

I have skin rashes the size of a nickel on the left side of my body from my fore arm to my left thigh and they all itch and they turn white wen I scrach them the doc gave me some anti itch cream but it. Didn't work and now they seem to be spreaing what could this be?
