What Is The Treatment For Severe Vaginal Infection?

Hi, I'm a 31 year old female with 4 children and during my last pregnancy i was told i had a vaginal infection. Prior to that i noticed a cottage cheese-like discharge accompanied by itching & slight irritation during sexual intercourse. Antibiotics were prescribed 4 both my husband and I (he was experiencing dryness on his foreskin to the point where the skin cracked) and the symptoms cleared 4 both of us. The symptoms are back in both of us and in my case there's also burning & itching. What could be the cause?
