What Is The Treatment For Shin Pain?

My son is almost 12 and complaining of his shins hurting, this has been going on for the last week any ideas what would cause this. He does play baseball and swims. He is in good condition, not overweight, 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 90 lbs.
