What Is The Treatment For Soreness And Tenderness In The Foot?

Last night I stepped on something and it went through my shoe into my foot. It didn't go in very far and bled very little. I cleaned it but today it is very sore. I think I had a tetanus shot 3 years ago ( I can't remember) if not it has been over 10 years. I am wondering if I need another one and if so do I need to go to the ER tonight (Sat) or can I wait until Monday?
