What Is The Treatment For Soreness In The Tongue?

my 2 year old says she has a sore tongue, she won't eat and is crying about it a lot. It's been a couple of days now. Any suggestions? She has had hand, foot and mouth before but she didn't get as distressed about it then, so i don't know if it is that again or not.
