What Is The Treatment For Stiffness In The Neck And Headache?

I noticed my neck was stiff last night. When I rubbed it I felt a large - golfball size lump on my skull about an 1inch to the right of my mastoid bone on the left ear. Is this probably an infection or should I seek medical attention? I do have a dull headache which is rare for me.
