What Is The Treatment For Swollen Bruise In The Leg?

my son bruised his his let by a fall on the outer upper thigh about a week ago. he does not have pain when he walks but there is a lot of bruising and swelling and he also scraped the skin when he feel. The swelling has gone down some but not all the way. He does have some numbness as well. Should he see a doctor? He is 16 and weighs 220.
