What Is The Treatment For Swollen Upper Lip?

I'm 38 years old and my husband has awakened to see me biting my top lip while still asleep but, my eyes are open. I'm also a type 1 diabetic. I bit my top lip so severely during sleep the night before last that, I had a bloody swollen upper lip upon awakening and no memory of it. Any idea what may be causing this? Thank you in advance.
