What Might Cause A Sharp Pain In The Groin And

What might cause a sharp pain in the groin and then numbness of the corresponding testicle?
This has been an ongoing situation since December 2014. Not daily, but several times a month.
Hasn't happened since April 6th, pain is a 10 and brings me to my knees.
